Blog 3

Yesterday I met with Professor Betts for my instructor meeting. I found it very helpful because we discussed how I could improve my website, and I also got a few ideas about my final project. I've been thinking about using a blog, because I really enjoy blogs. I like writing them and I also like reading them. I'm still not quite sure what tooic i want to do, but I think I want it to be psychology related.
Today I drove to San Diego to see my sister. The drive was long and boring and it didn't help that I was alone. However, the excitement to see my sister kept me energized and awake. Tomorrow is her birthday, so I picked her up a U of A beach towel from the bookstore, as well as a big party pack of Peach n Berry eegees for her. I filled a cooler with ice and put the eegees as well as a cake that my mom made for her. I was surprised the eegees didn't melt on the 6 hour drive. We went to watch the U of A game at a nearby sports bar that is right down the street from my sisters house. The game nearly gave us all a heart attack, but we finally came through and beat UCLA. I'm not sure what we have planned for tomorrow, considering its my sisters birthday. It's up to her to do whatever she wants!
I'm excited for spring break. It has been a tough semester and this will be a nice little break. However it will also be filled with work. I have to read a book, and a 30 page article for one class, I have another assignment to do for another class which involves interviewing an adolescent, and then for this class I have to catch up on assignments, work on my website, and think about what i would like to do for my final project. Even though this week will be full of work, it will be a lot easier to accomplish because I don't have class to go to, and I am off of work. I actually have time and won't be squeezing everything in. I look forward to the week and even with all the work I plan on having a little fun!

Blog #2

I've decided to use this blog entry to make a little introduction about myself, since it's harder to get to know people online.
I am 22 years old, and I am Romanian. I am the only one in my immediate family to be born in the United States. Both of my parents are Romanian, so I was brought up in a very traditional household. I am fluent in Romanian, but if you ask me to "Say something in Romanian!" then I wont know what to say. It's better to just give me a phrase/word to say. My dad is a professor, and my mom works in a deli. I have one brother and one sister, both of who are older than me. My brother lives in Phoenix. He graduated from the U of A with a bachelors, and graduated from ASU (Booo!) with a masters. My sister also graduated from the U of A, and became a teacher. She moved out to San Diego about a year and a half ago, which was very hard for me, because she is my best friend. But, it's okay, because now I have an excuse to go to San Diego all the time. (In fact, I'm leaving on Friday to go see her! :) )
I am a server, and between school and work, I do not have very much free time. It is difficult to find time to do things because I work nights and weekends. I wish I could work less, however, it is not possible to do so, since I work a job to pay for my schooling. I enjoy my job, though I do find myself getting frustrated with it, because working in customer service really does show you the worst in some people. However, I love my co workers and I get to meet a lot of cool and nice people at my tables.
I have a dog named Wilbur (I bleed red and blue!). I got him from a shelter in October of 2013. He is 2 years old, and a German Shepherd mix. He is my world, and I can't even begin to describe the love I have for him. I got him during a rough time in my life, and he has absolutely improved my life in so many ways. He is goofy and clumsy and silly, which is perfect because I am also pretty goofy and clumsy.
I am studying Psychology at the U of A. I plan on taking summer classes so that I can graduate in December. I am not exactly sure what I want to do. I was thinking of getting my teaching certificate once I graduate (Hence, my minor being ACE), but lately I have been thinking about perhaps being a school psychologist. Though I don't know exactly what I want to do, I know that I want to help people in some way, whether it is being a teacher or actually doing something psychology related.

LRC 320 Blog #1

I like the idea of using a blog. It brings back old memories. I remember using LiveJournal when I was younger. I liked it because it was like having a diary, and it was much easier to type than to write in an actual journal. I also remember teachers making us keep journals. I feel that if I had a blog instead, I would have been more motivated to write in it.
I think that blogs can be very useful in the classroom. I think that students tend to be more motivated to do assignments that involve technology. They would probably rather type than write, like me. Blogs can be used to complete informal writing assignments, and they can also get student's opinions out. Teachers can also have students create blogs to have as their personal class journals. They can choose to allow the students to keep their blogs private, or they can choose to have them public to the teacher, and even other classmates. One advantage to using blogs in the classroom is that students may be more comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions when it is over a computer screen rather than sharing them in person. For some students, it is easier to type and talk to someone than it is to talk to an entire class of people who they may not know. Another advantage is that students may be more motivated to complete assignments when it involves a blog. They may be more willing to type than to write, as stated earlier.
A disadvantage to using a blog in the classroom is that it may encourage students to not make face to face interactions. It may promote the idea, that, because the world is becoming more digital, social interactions are not as important. It can make students more anti-social. Another disadvantage is if the blogs involves sharing ideas and commenting, it can cause students to be mean, or to cyber bully others. This ties into the idea that interactions via computers is much easier than actual face-to-face interactions.
